EDT Social Worker / AMHP, Adults & Children, South LondonRole Overview:Pertemps is seeking an experienced Emergency Duty Team (EDT) Social Worker / Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to provide a high-quality out-of-hours service for both Adults and Children’s Social Care. This role is crucial in responding to urgent safeguarding concerns, mental health crises, and statutory interventions outside of regular office hours.The successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting positive change by using social work models and tools to enhance independence and manage risks of abuse and neglect.Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake urgent assessments, reviews, and interventions under the Care Act 2014 and Children Act 1989/2004.
  • Act as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), conducting assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007).
  • Work as part of the AMHP duty rota, responding to individuals in crisis.
  • Make professional decisions within relevant legal and policy frameworks, including:
    • Mental Capacity Act 2005 / DoLS & Liberty Protection Safeguards
    • Human Rights Act & relevant case law
    • Safeguarding Adults & Children procedures
  • Conduct adult safeguarding enquiries and support individuals in developing protection plans.
  • Assess and review Breathing Space applications under the Debt Respite Scheme Regulations 2020.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies, including health professionals, police, and emergency services to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Key Requirements:
  • Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.
  • AMHP qualification with experience in Mental Health Act assessments.
  • Strong knowledge of Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Experience in out-of-hours emergency duty services.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and make sound professional judgments in urgent situations.
  • Excellent risk assessment, crisis intervention, and decision-making skills.
