A vibrant bilingual, all-through school are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Pastoral Care to join their Senior Leadership Team. Dedicated to fostering excellence through care, this wonderful school prides itself on their outstanding educational provision and are committed to the intellectual and emotional development of every student.

Overall Purpose:

The Head of Pastoral Care will lead a dedicated team in providing exceptional support and safeguarding for all students, ensuring their wellbeing and promoting a safe and nurturing environment. This role will also encompass the responsibilities of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, prioritizing online safety and student welfare.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Lead a diverse team, including a Deputy, Learning Support & Wellbeing Specialists, Nurse, Weblibrarian, Pastoral Team Leader, Student Supervisors, and Heads of Year.
  • Manage referrals and support for students facing cognitive and social-emotional barriers to learning.
  • Oversee the development and monitoring of Individual Personal Plans (PAPs) in collaboration with families.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams, to support student needs.
  • Coordinate assemblies and events related to pastoral care.
  • Enhance the PSHE curriculum in partnership with teachers and pastoral staff.
  • Provide training and support for student peer counsellors and friendship buddies.
  • Foster community networks through coffee mornings for parents.
  • Promote digital wellbeing through the Common Sense media programme.
  • Stay updated on safeguarding, learning support, and mental health developments.

What We Are Looking For:

  • A native-level English speaker; proficiency in French is preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience with a strategic mindset.
  • Postgraduate training or a Master's degree in Counselling or Psychotherapy.
  • Membership in a recognized psychology-related professional body (BACP, UKCP, or BCP).
  • Experience counselling students aged 3-18 in a school setting.
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality and child safeguarding.
  • Expertise in differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • A commitment to integrating technology to enhance student learning.
  • Willingness to engage in school activities and foster the school-home partnership.
