DURATION/Hours: 6-month initial contract/ 36 hours a week (Mon-Fri, 9-5)

Job Purpose: As a Homelessness Prevention and Solutions Officer, you will work proactively with households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. Your role will involve sustaining current housing where possible or securing alternative, suitable, and affordable accommodation. You will manage a personal caseload, providing comprehensive housing advice and creating tailored solutions to prevent and relieve homelessness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice on housing and tenancy rights, financial matters, and housing options.
  • Assess housing needs and create personalized housing plans.
  • Collaborate with Social Services, Police, Probation, and other agencies.
  • Conduct home visits and housing surgeries in community locations.
  • Utilize the Homelessness Prevention budget for innovative housing solutions.
  • Represent the Housing Assessment Service at meetings and case conferences.
  • Manage a caseload under the Homelessness Reduction Act, ensuring timely action and statutory compliance.

Person Specification:

  • Knowledge of homelessness causes, relevant legislation, and support services.
  • Experience in public-facing roles, conducting interviews, and record-keeping.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize workloads, and meet targets.
  • Minimum of 2 A Level grade C and above or equivalent.
