Independent Reviewing Officer/CP Chair, North LondonRole Overview:Pertemps is recruiting for an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) and Child Protection (CP) Chair. This role is critical in ensuring effective care planning and safeguarding for children in care and subject to child protection concerns.As an IRO/CP Chair, you will be responsible for chairing multi-agency meetings and ensuring that care plans and child protection plans are robust, timely, and meet statutory requirements. You will also play a quality assurance role, ensuring practice standards are met and resolving disputes where necessary.Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure comprehensive care planning for looked-after children and children subject to protection concerns.
  • Chair multi-agency meetings for Looked After Children (LAC), children in need, and children requiring protection.
  • Ensure efficient recording of meetings and timely progression of care plans.
  • Champion child and family participation, ensuring meetings are user-focused and aligned with the Family Safeguarding practice model.
  • Liaise with operational managers to resolve conflicts and escalate concerns to senior leadership when necessary.
  • Provide guidance and quality assurance to operational teams, ensuring high standards of social work practice.
  • Monitor performance data and contribute to audits, case reviews, and service improvements.
  • Adhere to local CPC/IRO practice standards and statutory guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Extensive experience in child protection and looked-after children services.
  • In-depth knowledge of The IRO Handbook, and child protection legislation.
  • Strong understanding of multi-agency safeguarding frameworks and best practices.
  • Excellent chairing skills for multi-agency meetings with professionals and families.
