The Mental Health Adult Social Care Assessment Team (MHASCAT) in Newham is a specialised unit within the Adult Social Care Operations Service. This team is dedicated to promoting the well-being and independence of adults requiring mental health support, ensuring they receive high-quality care and safeguarding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessments: Conduct comprehensive social care needs and carers' assessments under the Care Act 2014 in both community and hospital settings.

  • Crisis Management: Respond promptly to urgent situations, offering immediate intervention and support to individuals experiencing mental health crises.

    Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including health professionals, social workers, and external agencies, to develop and implement effective care plans.

  • Safeguarding: Identify and address safeguarding concerns, ensuring that vulnerable adults are protected from harm and exploitation.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, care plans, and interventions in line with organizational policies and procedures.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Professional Registration: Qualified Social Worker with current registration.
