Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a Placements Officer for a Local Authority Client based in North London.

In this role, you will commission and manage external care placements for Looked After Children, ensuring their needs are met while promoting value for money and safeguarding their welfare.

About the role:You will be tasked with delivering key strategic objectives:

  • Identify and secure a range of external care placements for Looked After Children to meet their specific needs.
  • Engage in negotiations for individual and volume agreements to achieve cost efficiencies.
  • Provide guidance to social workers and staff on the most suitable placement options available.
  • Act as an interface between external agencies and operational services to maximise placement stability and minimise disruption.
  • Participate in organisational meetings regarding complex cases to determine the best outcomes for Looked After Children.

About you:The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:

  • Proven track record in commissioning and managing external care placements for Looked After Children, ensuring their specific needs are met.
  • Strong background in monitoring placement contracts and performance management to ensure compliance with quality standards and value for money.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining relationships with external placement providers to expand service options and enhance placement stability.
  • Understanding of safeguarding practices specific to placements, ensuring the welfare and protection of children in care.

What's on offer:

Salary: £19+ph*may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience*

Contract type: 3-6, months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension

Hours: Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week
