Practice Assurance Lead (Qualified Social Worker)

Wandsworth Council is seeking a Practice Assurance Lead to join our Practice & Learning Service, where you'll play a key role in enhancing the quality of practice across our Children's Services teams in line with our Outstanding Practice Framework.

About the Role

As a Practice Assurance Lead, you will work closely with teams across Children's Services to support the continuous improvement of practice quality. Reporting to the Service Manager for Practice Assurance, your responsibilities will include developing and embedding the quality assurance framework, leading audit programmes, conducting thematic practice reviews, and coordinating multi-agency audits. You'll be instrumental in analysing key themes and sharing insights with practitioners, managers, and leaders in engaging ways, making a measurable impact on our services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading practice assurance activities to monitor and enhance service quality.
  • Conducting learning episodes, dip-sampling, and thematic reviews to understand practice effectiveness.
  • Sharing insights creatively and collaboratively across teams and with multi-agency partners.
  • Working alongside safeguarding, policy and performance, inspection readiness, and workforce development teams to ensure quality and compliance across all areas.

About You

To be successful in this role, you should be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with a proven track record in leading social work practice and quality assurance activities. You will need:

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to interpret complex information and communicate key messages clearly.
  • The ability to build collaborative relationships across teams, services, and with senior leaders.
  • A commitment to anti-discriminatory and anti-racist practice in social work.
  • Knowledge of local and national policies and priorities that shape social work practice.
