Specialist Prison & Probation Prison Advocate


Salary: 16-18 p/h Ltd
Location: Hammersmith, Finsbury park or Stratford
Contract: 8 Week rolling

About the Role As a Specialist Prison & Probation Prison Advocate, you will play a crucial role in supporting women on remand or unsentenced within the prison setting. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing pre-release support focused on accommodation, finance, debt & benefits, family & significant others, and social inclusion.
  • Developing a referral pathway with the Offender Management team within the prison to ensure women can access the service.
  • Working in partnership with existing service providers within the prison.
  • Co-designing person-centered support and action plans with women to address their needs and risks.
  • Providing "through the gate support" and a signposting and advice service for women in custody.
  • Building strong relationships with pre-release teams to ensure clients have access to suitable support.
  • Ensuring interventions are responsive to the needs of women from diverse and minoritised backgrounds.


About You To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of working with women in a challenging multi-agency environment, ideally within the criminal justice system.
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm in a prison environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of caseload management, including recordkeeping, goal setting, and meeting deadlines.
  • The ability to complete trauma-informed support and action plans in collaboration with women.
  • A car may be desirable but not essential.


EL1 Vetting Requirement Please note that this role is subject to Enhanced Level 1 (EL1) vetting. This means that the successful candidate will be required to undergo a thorough background check.
