Location: London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (LBBD)
Hours: 37 hours per week

We are looking to recruit a Qualified Social Worker within the Referral and Assessment service in the Social work Industry. Our client Luton Council has a well-structured and organised team that are looking to grow their staffing levels.

The role offers flexible working hours for working parents and has a supportive team culture with regular supervision on cases. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and supportive team within Luton.

Main duties include:

  • Conducting Child Protection Investigations, including Section 47 inquiries.
  • Contributing to strategy discussions and multi-agency safeguarding meetings.
  • Preparing and presenting detailed reports for Child Protection Conferences.
  • Managing child protection plans and ensuring regular reviews.
  • Working collaboratively with other agencies to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at risk.
  • Initiating care proceedings when necessary to protect children from harm.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with a recognized social work qualification (degree or diploma).
  • Registered with the appropriate regulatory body (e.g., Social Work England).
  • Proven experience in a social work role, (preferably within Referral and Assessment but this is not essential)
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to social work practice.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing safeguarding advice, support, and signposting to families, children, and partner agencies.
  • Responding to referrals of children at risk, prioritizing cases and managing risk on a day-to-day basis.
  • Managing a varied caseload involving children in need, child protection, and court proceedings.
  • Ensuring timely interventions and support services to safeguard children and promote their welfare.
  • Developing safety plans and coordinating support packages in collaboration with multi-agency partners.
  • Using a strengths-based approach to work with families, empowering them to make positive changes.
