We're seeking an experienced and passionate Referral and Assessment Social Worker to join a forward-thinking and supportive children's services team at an inner-city London council. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where your expertise will have a lasting impact. The Role As a Referral and Assessment Social Worker, you'll be the first point of contact for children and families referred to the service. You'll complete high-quality assessments to identify risks, needs, and strengths, and determine the most effective interventions to safeguard children and promote their well-being. Your key responsibilities will include: Conducting child and family assessments within statutory timescales. Developing clear, child-focused plans that prioritise safety, permanence, and well-being. Working collaboratively with multi-agency partners to provide the best outcomes. Managing a manageable caseload and ensuring timely and effective interventions. Preparing detailed and evidence-based reports for child protection conferences, court proceedings, and other statutory meetings. What We're Looking For To succeed in this role, you'll need to be confident, proactive, and passionate about making a difference in children's lives. Essential Requirements: Social Work qualification (BA/MA Social Work, or equivalent). Current Social Work England (SWE) registration. Proven experience in referral and assessment, including completing statutory assessments. Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989/2004. Strong communication, analytical, and organisational skills. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, inner-city environment.
