A small specialist school for girls is looking for an experienced safeguarding officer to join their team on a part-time basis. The school are offering the role as a contract basis initially, but are looking for a permanent member of the team.

Please note we are only able to accept applications from candidates with a minimum of 2 years' experience working as a safeguarding officer.

Job role

In this role you will take lead responsibilities for safeguarding and child protection across the school. You will advise and support on welfare, and you will liaise with relevant agencies and the local authority. You will also undertake other professional duties, as delegated by the Headteacher.

As the school safeguarding officer your role will include duties in all the following areas:

  • Managing referrals to DBS, the Local Authority, agencies, the police.
  • Working with staff and other agencies and liaising on issues.
  • Managing child protection files.
  • Raising awareness.
  • Undergo training.
  • Providing support to staff.

This independent SEN school in Camberwell supports girls with various needs in SEN and SEMH. The school provides a safe and supportive environment for students. There is a dedicated leadership team in place and there are good opportunities for training and development.

  • A minimum of 2 years experience working in a safeguarding role within a school or other relevant organisation.
  • Experience of managing safeguarding in a school or other organisation.
  • Experience developing and implementing strategies to help children and their families.
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
