East London Housing Association is looking to hire a Senior Drug and Alcohol Worker to support those with primarily mental health issues and with substance dependency needs.

Responsibilities:

Create a safe and accepting psychologically informed environment for vulnerable residents, whilst following safeguarding measures.

Develop the recovery hub, embedding the "Rethink Recovery Toolkit"

Deliver quality training, advising staff and residents on substance misuse and assist on the admin side of negotiations and conferences.

Create trusting relationships with residents, motivating and empowering them to take next steps.

Interview new referrals and recovery workers, ensuring your project meets their needs, assessing physical and mental health for interventions.

Organise peer support activities, assisting with money management following Finance policies and procedures.

Experience and skills:

Good skills with communication, literacy, numeracy, and IT services to share and report relevant information.

Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety in a hostel setting, including dealing with emergencies and working alone.

Experience working around vulnerable and challenging residents, respecting culture and personal practices, empowering responsibility.

Knowledge working with dual diagnosis and key issues.

Understands relevant legislation, such as the Care Program Approach and Welfare Reforms.

Can manage medication, understanding the recovery model in a Psychologically Informed Environment.

Leadership and time management skills within a rota system.

Robust knowledge and practical application of adult safeguarding requirements, responding to risks therein.
