Senior Practitioner (Social Work)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dedicated Senior Practitioner to join a dynamic and high-performing social work team. This role is ideal for a practitioner with expertise in complex casework, Continuing Health Care, and forensic social work. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a small caseload of up to three complex cases, including court work and forensic services, while also providing professional supervision and guidance to two social work practitioners.

This position requires a strong background in navigating legally complex frameworks, crisis intervention, and implementing a whole systems approach to care planning. The ability to represent the local authority in Court of Protection proceedings is essential, as is experience in working with individuals with learning disabilities, mental health diagnoses, and Looked After Children. A solid understanding of the Mental Health Act, Care Act, safeguarding, mental capacity, and human rights legislation is crucial for ensuring best practices in social work delivery.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of post-qualifying experience in social work, demonstrating a track record of managing high-risk cases with a person-centred approach. Strong leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to support and develop junior staff while fostering a collaborative team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to engage effectively with clients, families, and multi-agency professionals.
