Senior Safeguarding Officer
Location: GreenwichHours: 37 hours per weekSalary: £18.57 per hour
Temporary role until April 2025

We are looking for an experienced Senior Safeguarding Officer to join a dynamic team in Greenwich. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all learners.
The Role
As a Senior Safeguarding Officer, you will:
- Work closely with students, staff, and external agencies to ensure effective safeguarding practices
- Support the Group Head of Safeguarding in meeting statutory safeguarding obligations
- Manage safeguarding concerns, referrals, and casework, ensuring best practice is followed
- Develop strong partnerships with local authorities, police, mental health services, and other key stakeholders
- Deliver safeguarding training and promote a 'staying safe’ culture across the College
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with legal requirements
About You
You will have:
- A relevant qualification in social work, youth work, or safeguarding
- In-depth knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education and safeguarding best practices
- Experience in liaising with external agencies and handling complex safeguarding cases
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver training
- Experience working with young people and adults ideally in a college setting
- Knowledge/ experience of working with learners where English is a second language
- Knowledge of safeguarding issues/ challenges facing young people (e.g. exploitation, online safety, housing, substance abuse, youth violence, Prevent)
- Experience in conflict resolution
- Knowledge of CPOMS an advantage
- Personable and proactive approach to student engagement
- The ability to work under pressure, manage multiple cases and maintain professionalism at all times
This role requires occasional evening work and travel between sites, and you must be willing to deputise for the Safeguarding Manager when required.
