Children Looked After Service

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Worker to join our Children Looked After Team. This team is responsible for children in the care of the local authority up to the age of 16 years. As a Systemic borough, relational-based practice is the foundation of everything we do.

The team consists of a Team Manager, a Consultant Social Worker, and five Social Workers/Senior Social Workers. The team is supported by a dedicated Clinical Practitioner, and our Family Assist service works alongside the team, providing a rapid response to prevent placement breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Comprehensive Assessments: Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop personalised care plans for children and young people in care.
  • Developmental Needs: Assess and address the developmental, emotional, and educational needs of children and young people, offering appropriate interventions.
  • Care Plan Monitoring: Monitor and review the progress and outcomes of care plans, making adjustments as required to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
  • Reunification Plans: Lead on reunification plans where children can return home safely.
  • Care Proceedings: Lead on care proceedings for children unable to remain in the care of their family while decisions are made.
Work Arrangements
  • Flexible Working: Flexible work arrangements are in place, with a combination of working from the office and working from home.
  • Duty Requirements: Workers are on duty six to eight times a month, with duty run in person from our Care Leavers hub.
  • Proximity to Borough: 82% of our children are placed within 20 miles of the borough, most of these are across Greater London.

Experience and Qualifications:
  • Substantial post-qualifying experience within a statutory Children's Looked After role in the UK Social Care sector.
  • SWE Registration.
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-qualifying experience within the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS/CRB (facilitated by us if needed).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
