Safeguarding and Assessment ServiceThe Safeguarding and Support Team at Haringey Council is comprised of five teams, each led by a Team Manager who oversees up to six social workers.The role within the Assessment Service emphasises safeguarding, diligent assessment, and intervention to address the unique needs of vulnerable children and families. By integrating strong assessment skills, case management expertise, and a commitment to professional development, you will contribute significantly to improving outcomes for those in need.

In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Deliver High-Quality Casework: Provide exceptional casework and services to vulnerable children and families, ensuring their safety and promoting their well-being.
  • Conduct Thorough Assessments: Perform comprehensive child and family assessments, including section 47 enquiries, to accurately evaluate needs and risks.
  • Develop and Manage Plans: Create and manage SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) plans for children under Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Looked After Children (LAC) statuses, focusing on their positive development and support.
  • Maintain Professional Standards: Uphold high standards of professional practice, engaging in regular supervision to ensure ongoing growth and adherence to best practices.

Candidates for this role must possess a relevant social work qualification and be registered with the Social Work England (SWE). Additionally, a minimum of 12 months of post-qualification experience is required, preferably within a similar setting, ensuring familiarity with the demands and challenges of the role. The ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team is essential, along with a proactive and solution-focused approach to addressing complex social work issues.Given the nature of the work, candidates should be capable of working under pressure and managing a caseload efficiently, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in dynamic situations. Excellent communication skills are paramount, encompassing both verbal and written forms, to facilitate effective interaction with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders. Overall, the role demands a combination of professional qualifications, practical experience, teamwork abilities, and strong communication skills to navigate the complexities of social work and deliver high-quality services to vulnerable individuals and families.
