South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust are currently looking for an experienced Social Worker to join the Evans ward at the University Hospital Lewisham. If you are looking to develop your NHS experience and support with social care within an MDT team - then please do apply!

The inpatient social worker will provide and coordinate effective adult mental health social work provision for Evans ward - a 16 bedded male acute ward based at the Ladywell Unit, Lewisham Hospital; working closely with the ward manager, Adult Social Care, the Trust MCA lead and Lewisham safeguarding lead to ensure service users, carers and significant others can access appropriate resources from local authorities and a range of external agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake person centred, recovery focused and trauma informed work with individuals and families taking into consideration their strengths
  • Support the MDT with advanced and relevant legal
  • Lead on the understanding and knowledge of the role of social work within mental health
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of mental health in-patient, discharge and community pathways.

What you’ll need:

  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification
  • HCPC Registration
  • Experience of conducting assessments identifying health and social care needs
  • Relevant specialist training in the skills required for the specialty area

In addition to experience, all Qualified roles will be required to provide evidence of

  • Relevant Qualifications
  • Registration with the relevant Registration Body if applicable.
