About the Role:
Join our dedicated Youth Justice Service team as an Early Help Practitioner on the Turnaround Programme! This role is a unique opportunity to make a real difference by preventing young people from entering the youth justice system. Through early intervention and proactive support, you will play a key role in addressing the underlying issues that lead to potential criminal behaviour and promote positive outcomes for at-risk youth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Identification: Conduct assessments to identify young people at risk of offending. Utilise screening tools and collaborate with schools, social services, and community organisations to recognise early signs of potential criminal behaviour.

  • Developing Intervention Plans: Create tailored intervention plans to address specific needs such as family issues, educational challenges, mental health concerns, or substance abuse.

  • Providing Support and Guidance: Lead one-on-one and group sessions to offer guidance on conflict resolution, emotional regulation, and decision-making. Engage families and caregivers to foster a supportive environment at home.

  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with agencies like schools, health services, social services, and law enforcement to ensure a comprehensive approach to prevention and intervention.

  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Track progress of youth in the programme, evaluate intervention effectiveness, and make adjustments as needed. Keep detailed records to document outcomes and improvements.

  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with community organisations to provide youth with support, opportunities, and positive activities to reduce offending risk.

  • Education and Awareness: Educate youth on the consequences of criminal behaviour and the benefits of a positive path. Raise awareness within the community about early intervention's impact.

Skills and Qualities:

  • Empathy and Compassion: Ability to connect with young people and their families.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written skills to effectively interact with multi-agency partners, youth, and families.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Resourceful and creative in meeting at-risk youth's needs.
  • Resilience and Patience: Able to handle challenging situations with a positive approach.
  • Organisational Skills: Skilled in managing caseloads, documentation, and coordination with multiple agencies.
  • Cultural Competence: Respectful and understanding of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
