Working across the Operations Directorate and reporting into a Senior Welfare Benefits Adviser, you will deliver proactive and comprehensive benefits advice service to residents.

Our client is a leading G15 Housing Association. This role will be based 3 days in their Kings Cross office.

Description

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive welfare benefits advice and advocacy service to residents.

    • Offer expert advice on all aspects of the welfare benefits system.
    • Support residents in challenging decisions and resolving complicated issues.
    • Assist with benefit appeals, including preparation of submissions.
    • Represent customers at tribunals to support tenancy sustainment.
  • Manage a complex and demanding caseload.

    • Juggle competing priorities to ensure cases are progressed.
    • Ensure deadlines and performance indicators are met.
    • Work inquisitively under own initiative to determine actions needed for each case.
  • Provide a responsive and inclusive service to residents.

    • Adapt services to meet individual needs.
    • Be visible in the community to front-line teams and residents.
  • Support residents to maximise their income.

    • Signpost to charitable grants and funding opportunities.
    • Make referrals to external partners.

Profile

The successful candidate:

  • Significant experience in providing all areas of welfare benefits advice and casework.

  • Excellent up-to-date knowledge of the statutory framework.

  • Ability to identify implications of legislative changes to welfare benefits.

  • Strong people and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in providing services to vulnerable adults and working with a diverse client group.

  • Practical knowledge of the financial inclusion sector

  • Experience in making successful grant applications.

  • Previous experience within an advice setting.

  • Knowledge of current social housing legislation and good practices.
