Youth Justice Officer, £33ph, North LondonPertemps is recruiting an experienced Youth Justice Officer for the Youth Offending Service in Islington. This role focuses on reducing reoffending and harm among young people under statutory orders, DTOs, and bail.Role Overview:The Youth Justice Officer will assess and support young people, addressing criminogenic needs through targeted interventions. Working closely with families and partner agencies, the postholder will help ensure compliance and positive outcomes for those under YOS supervision.Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assessments using tools like Child View, Asset Plus, and CAF to evaluate risk and needs.
  • Develop and deliver creative one-on-one and group interventions to support desistance.
  • Engage with young people with complex needs to build compliance and trust.
  • Supervise youth on bail support, monitoring progress and taking enforcement action if needed.
  • Maintain accurate records, keeping assessments up-to-date in line with standards.
  • Prepare pre-sentence and other reports for court and attend Youth and Crown Court as needed.
  • Represent YOS at MAPPA, MARP, and Child Protection meetings to ensure thorough planning and risk management.
Requirements:
  • Qualified in Social Work, Probation, Teaching, Youth/Community Work, or Health
  • Experience managing a diverse statutory caseload in youth justice
  • Relevant and considerable experience in a VOS case management role including the management of high risk and complex cases
