DevOps Engineer - eFX IT

We are seeking a contract DevOps Engineer to join our Global Investment Bank clients dynamic eFX IT team. This role is crucial for maintaining and enhancing our suite of applications and services that are vital to the eFX business line. The successful candidate will have Investment Bank experience and be deeply involved in various DevOps activities, including automation, containerisation, and cloud deployments, and will play a key role in shaping the technological advancements within the department.

The role requires 3 days on site and 2 days remote and is inside IR35.

Required Skills 
  • Proven experience with DevOps technologies and patterns, Kubernetes, and containerisation such as Docker.
  • Experience with one or more cloud providers, notably AWS.
  • Proficiency in Linux and Windows scripting and familiarity with fully reproducible and auditable build chains.
  • Knowledge of security concerns around builds, such as signed builds.
  • Strong understanding of software delivery processes and methodologies, including Agile, SCRUM, or Kanban.
  • Excellent communication skills and systematic reasoning.
  • Knowledge of Unix and Windows OS, and cloud technologies, including distributed authentication and network traffic cost implications within the cloud.
Day-to-day of the role:
  • Collaborate closely with eFX IT teams to understand requirements and develop or recommend solutions.
  • Enhance build chains, integrate with bank-standard tooling, and automate deployments across multiple environments.
  • Develop automated testing strategies and manage the removal of obsolete build chain components.
  • Handle the replacement of end-of-life hardware and operating systems and prepare for potential cloud deployments, including containerisation and Kubernetes.
  • Ensure production stability and liaise with support teams on infrastructure and operational issues.
  • Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and provide regular status updates to project managers.
