DevOps Engineer, Hybrid, Contract, Docker, Podman
My client is seeking a solid DevOps Engineer with strong skills in containerisation, mainly Kubernetes, Docker, and Podman.
The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for leading a variety of engineering activities, including building out our capabilities, adopting public cloud infra / solutions, and integrating our applications with various cloud services to improve the scalability of the platform.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with application developers with the Tech teams and Infrastructure colleagues and 3rd party public cloud vendors to bring relevant public cloud infra and services in a timely fashion.
- Work closely with the Cloud Security team to ensure public cloud services undergo proper evaluations speedily, with business priorities upheld.
- Partner with multiple teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet our business and technology goals.
- Identify and define necessary system enhancements to improve current processes and architecture.
- Provide expertise and advanced knowledge in DevOps engineering and ensure our processes adhere to best practices and the firm's strategic tech plan.
- Perform support tasks such as troubleshooting with clients and working with production support to triage production stability issues.
- Provide in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions.
- Serve as advisor or coach to mid-level engineers and analysts, allocating work as necessary.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding its clients and assets.
Skills required:
- Proven experience in creating devops solutions in enterprise container platforms, such as the public cloud Kubernetes Services in Amazon Web Services / Google Cloud, or on-premises platforms such as RedHat OpenShift.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) in microservice architecture and container technologies such as Docker, Podman and Kubernetes.
- SME in Kubernetes related technologies such as S3, EFS, Lustre FSx, Kubernetes cluster autoscaler, Karpenter and KEDA.
- In-depth knowledge in using tools such as Terraform, Helm, kubectl, Hashicorp vault.
- Great understanding in managing vulnerability and maintaining strong security for applications and services running in public cloud.
- Experience in Java programming and the Spring framework would be an advantage.
- Understanding of agile software development approach and experience in using developer tools such as Github, Bitbucket, JIRA, Artifactory and Jenkins.
- In-depth experience in analysing application metrics using observability tools such as Splunk, Elasticsearch and Grafana is highly desirable.
- Be flexible and agile to fast evolving technology and business demands and changing priorities.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills.
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
3 days in the office required each week.
