Java / Jira API Developer

  • Rate: £500 - £550 Outside IR35
  • Location: Fully Remote (Must be UK Resident)
  • Lenght: 2-3 Months

We are looking for a skilled Jira API / Java Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java development and experience working with Jira's REST and SOAP APIs to integrate, customize, and enhance Jira functionalities. This role requires in-depth knowledge of Atlassian tools, agile workflows, and enterprise-level software development practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain custom Jira plugins, scripts, and integrations using Java and Jira REST APIs.

  • Customize Jira workflows, fields, screens, and automation rules as per business needs.

  • Work with stakeholders to analyze business requirements and translate them into Jira configurations and enhancements.

  • Integrate Jira with other enterprise applications and third-party tools.

  • Optimize and improve Jira performance, ensuring high availability and scalability.

  • Develop and maintain API endpoints and web services for Jira-based applications.

  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to manage Jira deployments and configurations.

  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and documentation for Jira customizations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Java (8+), Spring Framework, and RESTful API development.

  • Hands-on experience with Jira development using Atlassian SDK, Jira Query Language (JQL), and Jira API integrations.

  • Experience with Jira Administration, including configuring projects, workflows, permissions, and notifications.

  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Groovy or Python for Jira automation (e.g., ScriptRunner).

  • Experience working with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server) and writing optimized queries.

  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.

  • Knowledge of cloud-based Jira (Atlassian Cloud) and on-premise Jira Data Center deployments.

  • Experience with authentication and security models, including OAuth and SSO integration
