Salt are currently partnered with a Local Government authority in London who require a Lead Software Developer who specialises in CMS Development for an initial 3-month term.

The role is inside IR35 and paying £320 per day. You will be working to a hybrid working pattern with 2-3 days in the offices (East London) and the rest WFH.

The Lead Software Engineer will provide technical expertise needed to explore CMS platform options for the clients website. This investigation forms part of a wider website discovery project, exploring transformative improvements to enhance the resident experience and maximise the website's value by increasing digital uptake.

Activities will include:

  • Review of the current Wordpress CMS Identify existing issues within the code.
  • Recommend improvements to this CMS based on our high level requirements
  • Estimate effort required to make improvements
  • Evaluation of other CMS options
  • Compare against our website high level requirements
  • Estimate effort required to build a new website on these platforms

The suitable candidate will require:

  • Working with CMS
  • Extensive knowledge of Wordpress and other CMS platforms
  • Confident working with frontend development languages, HTML, CSS and Javascript.
  • Confident working with CMS specific languages such as PHP.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering CMS products.
  • CMS Evaluation Ability to critically evaluate various technical products (CMS) and present findings to a non-technical audience.
