An exciting opportunity within financial services client is looking for Senior Network Automation Developer based in London.

Role: Senior Network Automation Developer

Location: London (2 days a week onsite)

Duration: 12 Months

Status: Inside IR35

Rate: Circa £700/day

The Senior Network Automation Developer helps develop, deploy and support the automation environment and products.

Considered an SME in Network Automation, the individual must proactively provide technical support and guidance in areas of automation against software-defined networks (SDN), VPN, local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network security platforms, and load-balancing technologies within modern network architectures.

Experience and skills Required:

  • In depth knowledge of Git, Python, Ansible and/or terraform and automation frameworks - including but not limited to automated testing, orchestration workflows, schema modification and coding.
  • Knowledge of network technologies, i.e., routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls, network and routing protocols, VPN, SDWAN and CISCO ACI
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-a-code principles
  • Strong knowledge of web protocols and a good knowledge of Linux/Unix tools and architecture
  • Advanced Knowledge/Experience with CI/CD (automated testing, version control)
  • Experience in ServiceNow CMDB and workflow.
  • Knowledge/Experience programmable interfaces on Network equipment e.g. RESTful API's, NETCONF
  • Analysis, design, development, unit testing, and technical documentation of new and existing software modules or features
  • In depth knowledge and experience of Service Now workflow and catalogue item development
  • Knowledge of deployment methodologies for multi-tier applications
  • Knowledge of basic IT technologies, i.e., operating systems, network devices, software development and architecture
  • Knowledge of data network architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signalling links and protocols
  • Excellent customer service skills that build high levels of customer satisfaction for internal and external clients
  • Willingly shares relevant technical and/or industry knowledge and expertise to other resources.
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, team and time management skills

Responsibilities:

  • Define, construct, support, and provide training for automation products.
  • Provide input into the development of FIS's infrastructure automation products.
  • Team player within the automation team providing guidance and coding knowledge to other members.
  • Help train Engineering and Operations teams on the catalogue of our automation solutions so they may be used in a self-service manner.
  • Develop and maintain the automation tool chains in accordance to validated designs.
  • Review acceptance criteria to identify areas of risk and/or missing requirements.
