Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Norwood. The successful candidate will support a boy in Year 1 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping him to engage fully in the school day and achieve his potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to a Year 1 student with ASD, ensuring his needs are met.
  • Assist with classroom activities and encourage participation.
  • Implement strategies to manage behaviour and support emotional regulation.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning materials and activities.
  • Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to parents and staff.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly ASD.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs.
  • Training in ASD-specific interventions and strategies.
