About the Role:

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team and support students in Key Stage 4 (KS4). This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to making a positive impact on the learning and well-being of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to provide tailored support to students with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group support to KS4 students with SEN.
  • Assist students with their academic work, ensuring they stay engaged and make progress.
  • Implement individual learning plans (ILPs) and support students in achieving their targets.
  • Help manage behaviour and emotional regulation in line with school policies.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to provide holistic support.
  • Support students with communication, social skills, and confidence-building.
  • Assist in preparing learning materials and adapting resources for SEN students.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Provide pastoral support, ensuring students’ well-being and safeguarding needs are met.
  • Support students during exams, transitions, and extracurricular activities.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with SEN students, particularly in KS4 (desirable).
  • Strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning difficulties.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and encourage learning.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting young people.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies (training can be provided).
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Teaching Assistant certification, SEN training) are a plus.
  • DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
