At Remedy we are seeking a caring and committed Female - 1:1 Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to work at one of our leading primary schools in South East London.

The successful Female - 1:1 SEN TA will primarily support a Year 3 girl with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). We would like to note that we are looking for a female TA becauase the student responds bettter to a female. This 1:1 SEN TA role will require you to collaborate with the classroom teacher and other education staff, providing outstanding support and initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support for a child with specific learning needs, in line with their EHCP.
  • Assist with classroom tasks, ensuring the child remains engaged and supported during lessons.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to monitor and report on the child's progress.
  • Adapt learning materials to support the child's development and ensure inclusion in all activities.
  • During the child's absence (outside of 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM), assist the Year 3 teaching team with general classroom duties, group work, and other tasks as needed.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting the educational and emotional development of young learners.
  • Experience working with students with behavioural challenges, preferably in an educational or special education setting.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and de-escalation methods.
  • Ability to establish rapport and build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the educational environment.
