TimePlan Education is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work within an Autism Resource Provision (ARP) attached to a mainstream primary school in the heart of Camden. This rewarding role will begin after the October half-term and is an excellent opportunity for anyone passionate about supporting young people with additional needs, particularly those with Autism.
About the Role:
- You'll be working in a specialised ARP setting that caters to children aged 4-11 with Autism.
- Each class has a small group of students (1:2 staff-to-student ratio) and a collaborative team including one teacher and 3-4 support staff.
- The school takes a therapeutic approach to learning, working closely with professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Music Therapists.
- You will play a key role in supporting students to regulate their emotions and develop communication skills, viewing all behaviours as forms of communication.
- This is a hands-on role, requiring active participation in students' learning and play.
- You will also assist with personal care where necessary, including toilet training or supporting students who use nappies.
- Weekly swimming sessions are part of the curriculum, and staff are expected to enter the shallow pool to help supervise students.
What We're Looking For:
- Team Teach Trained (or equivalent)
- Ideally, you'll have experience working with young people, particularly those with Autism or additional needs.
- You'll have a calm, empathetic approach, and be committed to supporting students in a low-arousal environment.
- A sense of fun and the ability to work closely within a team is essential, as is the willingness to participate in games and activities that help children learn through play.
