Role: Secondary School Teaching Assistant
Location: Merton
Hours: Full time - Monday - Friday (8:30AM - 4:00PM)
Start date: Immediately and January 2025

If so, then look no further than our Secondary Teaching Assistant position! Your role will be providing support to a variety of children in KS3/KS4 on a 1:1 and 1:2 basis who are diagnosed with Autism and additional learning needs.
To thrive as a Learning Support Assistant, it's desirable for you to have:
- A genuine passion for supporting secondary aged students.
- Experience working with children with Autism.
- Experience with children who have communication and behavioural needs.
- Experience working with children with additional learning needs.
- Have a natural enthusiasm for working with children.
- The ability to monitor and record a child's progress.
- An understanding of safeguarding children.
- A positive, caring, energetic, can-do attitude.
- Team Teach training is preferable.
- ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) is preferable.
Duties include (but aren't limited to):
- 1:1 support with a child or small groups
- Supporting the class as a whole
- Assisting the class teacher
- Fostering relationships with parents
- Caring and looking after children during break times and lunch times
- Supervising children during activities
- Managing challenging behaviour
- Motivating children and being an excellent role model
Degree holders or applicants holding an NVQ/Level 3 qualification in Childcare are welcome, as are Learning Support Assistants with experience in school settings.
