Role: Secondary School Teaching Assistant

Location: Merton

Hours: Full time - Monday - Friday (8:30AM - 4:00PM)

Start date: Immediately and January 2025

Are you interested in supporting underperforming or SEN students , mainly those with Autism, Speech and Language and AdditionalLearning Needs?

Are you confident, energetic with a positive attitude?

If so, then look no further than our Secondary Teaching Assistant position! Your role will be providing support to a variety of children in KS3/KS4 on a 1:1 and 1:2 basis who are diagnosed with Autism and additional learning needs.

To thrive as a Learning Support Assistant, it's desirable for you to have:

  • A genuine passion for supporting secondary aged students.
  • Experience working with children with Autism.
  • Experience with children who have communication and behavioural needs.
  • Experience working with children with additional learning needs.
  • Have a natural enthusiasm for working with children.
  • The ability to monitor and record a child's progress.
  • An understanding of safeguarding children.
  • A positive, caring, energetic, can-do attitude.
  • Team Teach training is preferable.
  • ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) is preferable.

Duties include (but aren't limited to):

  • 1:1 support with a child or small groups
  • Supporting the class as a whole
  • Assisting the class teacher
  • Fostering relationships with parents
  • Caring and looking after children during break times and lunch times
  • Supervising children during activities
  • Managing challenging behaviour
  • Motivating children and being an excellent role model

Degree holders or applicants holding an NVQ/Level 3 qualification in Childcare are welcome, as are Learning Support Assistants with experience in school settings.
