Learning Support Assistant - Secondary School, Southwark

Are you a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity? A thriving mainstream secondary school in Southwark is seeking a committed professional to join their team immediately on a full-time, long-term basis until the end of the academic year.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored support to students with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) to ensure their academic and personal development.

  • Work closely with teachers to implement individual learning plans (ILPs) and adapt classroom activities to suit students' needs.

  • Offer one-to-one and small group support, assisting with classwork and promoting engagement in lessons.

  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment, helping students develop confidence and independence.

  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.

  • Assist in managing classroom behaviour and implementing school policies effectively.

Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.

  • Experience supporting students with SEND is essential.

  • A valid Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

  • A proactive and patient approach to supporting students with diverse learning needs.
