About the Role:

Milk Education are currently recruiting on behalf of a fantastic 2 form entry primary school in Haringey, North London that is looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work alongside and support a Year 3 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role will be starting after the half term break, and the school are looking for someone with a real passion in making a difference to young learners with additional needs.

The successful candidate will work closely with the pupil on a 1:1 basis during lessons and break times, assisting them with communication, emotional regulation, and accessing their learning when in class. This role is ideal for someone who is experienced in supporting children with ASD and can provide visual and verbal support for the pupil when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a Year 3 pupil with ASD during lessons, helping them engage with the curriculum.
  • Use visual aids and communication strategies to assist the child’s understanding.
  • Support the pupil during break and lunch times helping with their social engagement.
  • Provide a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff to ensure a coordinated approach to the child’s needs.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children with Autism (ASD) or have an understanding of the needs and how to support learners with Autism.
  • Knowledge of visual communication strategies and a flexible approach to supporting diverse learning styles.
  • Patient, understanding, and emotionally supportive, with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to working with children with complex needs.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, collaborating with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
