Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Alternative Provision – West London
We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a successful and inclusive alternative provision, located in the West London area, commencing in March 2025.
The role
As an alternative provision Learning Support Assistant, you will be comfortable with providing in-class, one-to-one interventions for students aged 4 to 11 years. They have one child at a time with a teacher and an LSA. The maximum number is seven children in the class with two-three adults. Your consistent effort will greatly impact the children's learning journey and personal development. The children are either Permanently Excluded (PEX) or at serious risk of PEX.They will have challenging, and at times, extreme behaviours that may be triggered by a combination of complex needs. However, once a positive connection has been established and confidence and skills are developed, you will then see them at their best .
The ideal Learning Support Assistant (LSA) will:
- Be experienced in dealing with children with poor attachment, ASD, ADHD as well as a range of adverse childhood experiences
- Be committed to the provision’s high standards and ethos
- Have experience working 1:1 or in small groups
- Be able to build and establish positive connections
- Be flexible and adaptable and enjoy working with young people.
- Have a good sense of humour and be compassionate
- Be a great communicator to pupils and staff
- Have prior relevant experience working with children with similar needs and in a similar setting (desirable)
