Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team, focusing on assisting a special needs student. This role is crucial in providing tailored support and ensuring an inclusive learning environment. The position is based in Walthamstow and offers a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact in a student's educational journey.

Day-to-day of the role of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one support to a special needs student, adapting to their educational and emotional needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with teachers and other educational staff to facilitate an inclusive learning environment.
  • Utilise appropriate learning aids and techniques to enhance student comprehension and engagement.
  • Monitor and report on the student's progress to teachers and parents/guardians.
  • Ensure the student's safety and wellbeing throughout the school day.
  • Participate in training and development sessions to improve professional competence and special needs education knowledge.

Required Skills & Qualifications of an LSA:

  • Experience in a similar role, particularly in supporting special needs students.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by special needs students and how to effectively address them.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a dedicated approach to student development.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or special needs support are preferred.
