An inclusive and welcoming primary school in Hither Green is seeking a full-time Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a non-verbal Reception pupil. This role is ideal for a compassionate and patient individual who is experienced in supporting young children with special educational needs (SEN), including personal care.

Learning Support Assistant Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a non-verbal child in Reception.
  • Assist with communication development, using visual aids, Makaton, or PECS where appropriate.
  • Support personal care needs, ensuring the child's comfort and well-being.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored learning strategies.
  • Create a nurturing and engaging environment to support the child's progress.
  • Encourage social interaction and engagement with peers.
The Ideal Learning Support Assistant Will Have:
  • Previous experience working with SEN pupils, particularly those who are non-verbal.
  • A patient, caring, and proactive approach to support individual needs.
  • Strong understanding of early years development and strategies for supporting communication.
  • Experience or willingness to assist with personal care.
