We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Assistant to join the team at a mainstream secondary school in Haringey. As a Pastoral Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in promoting positive student behaviour and ensuring a positive and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the pastoral team, to provide behaviour support to students.
  • Assisting in the implementation of a coordinated behaviour management, with appropriate pastoral support and resolution opportunities.
  • Provide students with strategies to help them deal with challenging situations in school
  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Exclusion and Reflection Room.
  • Assist with the daily behaviour referral system and mentor students referred to the Exclusion and Reflection Room.
  • Maintain open communication with parents/guardians.
  • Provide behaviour change interventions, encouraging positive change and resilience.
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of daily expectations and standards.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar position utilising strong behaviour management and intervention skills
  • Ability to understand and foster student's learning
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively and effectively
  • High level of commitment and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Discretion, good judgement, and initiative
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills
