LTF Recruitment is seeking an empathetic and proactive Pastoral Assistant to join a well-established secondary school in Waltham Forest, London. Situated in a vibrant area with excellent transport links, this school has a strong reputation for its supportive and inclusive approach to education, offering students a safe environment to grow both academically and personally.
As a Pastoral Assistant, you'll play an integral role in supporting students' well-being, helping them overcome social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, and assisting them in building the resilience they need for success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and group pastoral support to students, helping them with emotional, social, and behavioural issues
- Work closely with the pastoral team, teachers, and parents to ensure students receive the support they need
- Monitor and track student well-being, providing regular feedback to pastoral staff
- Help maintain a positive and inclusive school environment, promoting respectful behaviour and engagement
- Support students in developing self-confidence, social skills, and coping strategies
- Participate in pastoral initiatives, including workshops, assemblies, and events that promote well-being
Essential Criteria:
- Previous experience in a secondary school or similar setting, ideally in a pastoral or support role
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting young people
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for students
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience working with students who have SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices and behaviour management strategies
Additional Information:
- Full-time, Monday to Friday
- Paid £110 - £120 per day, term time only
- Based in Waltham Forest, London - accessible by local transport
- Immediate start with potential for a long-term role
