We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team, helping to make a difference in the lives of children with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities in Wandsworth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children with special educational needs (SEN) in their learning, both in mainstream classrooms and in special settings, as required.
  • Work closely with the SENCO and classroom teachers to implement tailored education plans (IEPs) that meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Provide emotional and behavioural support to children, fostering a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Assist with the development of students' social skills by facilitating inclusive activities.
  • Employ specific strategies and tools under the guidance of educational psychologists or other specialists to support students' learning.
  • Participate in training and development sessions to enhance your understanding of SEN practices and policies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or equivalent, is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs.
  • A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and professionals.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • A current Enhanced DBS check, registered with the Update Service, or willingness to undergo one.
