About the Role:

An outstanding special educational needs school in Chalk Farm, North London, is seeking an outgoing and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work with a young boy in Year 7. You will be helping children on a 1:1 basis, supporting learners to access learning. Your focus will be to enable them to become independent and confident individuals by teaching them essential life skills and ways to communicate effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a young boy with Down Syndrome.
  • Assist with personal care when necessary.
  • Support learners in accessing the curriculum and developing independence.
  • Foster positive relationships with students to enhance their learning experience.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to create a supportive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with individuals with Down Syndrome.
  • Willingness to assist with personal care tasks as needed.
  • Strong experience in providing 1:1 support.
  • Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
  • Available to work 5 days a week.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds GCSEs with minimum Grade C/Level 4 or equivalent, including Maths and English Language.
  • Has experience working with adults or children with learning or communication difficulties.
  • Demonstrates honest, trustworthy, and ethical behaviour at all times.
  • Possesses a strong desire to help others enjoy learning and develop independence.
