A high performing mainstream academic school in the London Borough of Greenwich are on the hunt for an SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant to join their team for an ASAP start.

This SEN Teaching Assistant will require you to support two year 5 pupils in mainstream school SEN Teaching Assistant position will involve working with children who have SEN. (EHCP and / or ASD diagnosis). You will support the children to meet academic and social targets and encourage progress in both aspects.

We are happy to shortlist those who have experience working as a Teaching Assistant/Support worker or Youth Worker.

SEN Teaching Assistant Details:

  • Working in Early Years provision
  • Working with children aged 11 - 15 years old
  • Working with SEN - EHCP and / or ASD diagnosis
  • Supporting children on a 1:1 and in a small group basis
  • Working in various areas of the school (inc. Inclusion department)
  • Working closely alongside the SENCO and other professionals
  • Strong academics across the board - Degree, A levels and GCSEs

The ideal candidate:

  • Experience working with students with behavioural challenges, preferably in an educational or special education setting.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and de-escalation methods.
  • Ability to establish rapport and build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
