Prospero Teaching are currently seeking dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistants to join SEN Primary Schools in North West London.

Position: SEN Learning Support Assistants

Locations: 3 Primary SEN Schools Located in North West London, NW7, NW10, and EN5.

Duration: Temporary to permanent / Daily cover

Hours: 8:30 am - 3:50 pm (3:30 finish on Fridays!)

Pay: 85 - 90 per day

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with complex needs and severe learning difficulties.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of individual learning programmes, designed to meet the specific needs of each pupil.
  • Support pupils with daily classroom activities, helping them to access the curriculum and fully engage with lessons.
  • Provide personal care as required, including support with feeding, toileting, and mobility.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and other support staff to maintain a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to support their social and emotional development.
  • Assist with managing behaviour, using de-escalation strategies where necessary.
  • Encourage the development of independence and life skills, supporting pupils in working towards their individual goals.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, contributing to Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Previous experience working with SEN pupils, particularly those with complex needs and severe learning difficulties.
  • Ability to provide personal care and assist with the individual needs of pupils.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, proactive, and compassionate approach to supporting children with additional needs.

Ideal candidates will have experience of working with children with SEN, especially those with complex and severe learning difficulties, and will be comfortable providing personal care.
