There are multiple roles for a Learning Support Assistant within the Wandsworth Borough. This role is for a specialist SEND provision or Special Education Schools, who are looking for passionate Learning Support Assistants to join their team!

You could be working with students aged 4 to 18 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties), SLD (Severe Learning Disabilities) or SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health).

There are multiple positions available currently - both full and part time, so please enquire for more information.

We will accept applications from candidates with a range of experience - experience within an SEND setting is desirable but not essential and training can be provided. It would also be beneficial to have experience working with challenging behaviours, so anyone from a youth or support worker background would be encouraged to apply. Whilst experience is not necessary, the ideal candidate must have a desire and passion for working with children with ASC, PMLD, MLD, SLD or SEMH.

Your Role:

  • Supporting learners on a one-to-one basis often with complex learning needs
  • Working with other support staff to engage pupils in class
  • Providing feedback to teachers and parents
  • You will be assisting pupils with Complex Communication, Autism, SEMH, ADHD, Severe Learning Difficulties and other Learning Disabilities

  • A range of behaviour management techniques
  • To have worked with learners with a range of needs
  • The ability to engage a young person in learning through a range of methods
  • To be able to commit to working at the school for long period of time
  • A resilient attitude
