SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School - Waltham Forest

This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), supporting them to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Role Overview:
- Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (ASD/ADHD Support)
- Location: Waltham Forest, London
- Start Date: September
- Contract Type: Full-time, term-time only
- Duration: Fixed-term for the full academic year, with potential for a permanent role
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to children with ASD and ADHD, helping them to engage with the curriculum and classroom activities.
- Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive learning environment, adapting lesson materials to meet the needs of individual students.
- Implement individualized learning plans (ILPs) and behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
- Work on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to deliver targeted interventions, fostering positive social interactions and emotional development.
- Monitor and report on student progress, maintaining accurate records and providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Collaborate with the SENCO, teachers, and other support staff to ensure a holistic approach to each child's education and well-being.
- Promote positive behaviour and a safe learning environment, supporting children to develop self-regulation and coping strategies.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly ASD and ADHD, is highly desirable.
- A genuine passion for supporting children's educational and personal development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with children, staff, and parents.
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with diverse learning needs.
- Relevant qualifications in education or child development are beneficial, but not essential for the right candidate.
