An OFSTED Outstanding secondary school in Hackney, East London, is looking for a SEN TA to start immediately. As a SEN TA, you will be working on a 1-1 basis with a student who requires personal care and other assistance throughout the day. This includes changing, bathroom assistance, academic support and assistance with resources and day to day items. Applicants for this SEN TA should have experience working with children with SEN/D, and experience in a personal care role. Due to the time sensitive nature of this post, applicants won't be considered unless they have an enhanced child DBS on the Online Update Service.

As a SEN TA you will predominantly be working with one female student. You may however be required to support other students on occasion. This role is in a mainstream secondary school, and is to start as soon as possible. The right candidate will have SEND and Personal care experience, but they will also be patient and understanding. They will be flexible, and committed to supporting young people and helping them thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-to-one support to a student with SEN, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Providing personal care and other support
  • Implementing tailored learning strategies and interventions as directed by the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Collaborating with teachers and other support staff to ensure the individual needs of students are met effectively.
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of differentiated activities to support student progress.
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in an SEN role, preferably within a school setting.
  • Previous experience of providing personal care in the workplace
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Strong understanding of various Special Educational Needs and associated support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting the diverse needs of students.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (desirable but not essential).
