About the Role:

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to become an integral part of our vibrant school community in Newham. Key Responsibilities of SEN TA:
  • Morning Support: Offer targeted assistance to students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, including those with ADHD and potential self-harming behaviors.
  • Afternoon Flexibility: Provide support across Key Stages 1 and 2, adapting to a wide range of educational needs.
  • Nurturing Environment: Use your skills to create an inclusive, supportive atmosphere where every child can thrive.
  • Collaborative Efforts: Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement personalized support plans and interventions.
  • Foster Growth: Build strong, positive relationships with students, encouraging their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Nappy Changing: Provide nappy changing and personal care assistance as required, ensuring all students feel safe, comfortable, and supported throughout the school day.

SEN TA Requirements:
  • Experience: Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of SEN, safeguarding, and child protection practices.
  • Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team, while also being able to work independently when needed.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with students and staff.
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications and/or training in education, SEN, or child development are desirable.

A solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection is essential for this role. Successful candidates must pass all necessary background safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
