Are you passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a mainstream secondary school setting?
GSL Education are seeking experienced SEN Teaching Assistants (SEN TA) to work with students in secondary mainstream schools in Southwark, ensuring that their educational experiences are inclusive and empowering. Whether you have experience working with students with SEN, are a graduate with an interest in education, or have a background in supporting children with additional needs, this role provides the opportunity to make a significant impact on students' lives.
As a SEN TA, what you have to do:
- Supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) on a one-to-one or small group basis.
- Assisting students in the classroom to help them access the curriculum.
- Encouraging student participation and ensuring they are engaged in learning activities.
- Helping with behavioural management and promoting a positive learning environment.
- Supporting the class teacher in delivering tailored lesson plans to meet individual needs.
- Assisting students with personal care needs if required.
- Helping students to develop social and communication skills.
- Working closely with the SENCO and other staff to monitor and track students' progress.
- Supporting students during exams or assessments to ensure they can perform to the best of their ability.
SEN TA Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children, preferably in a SEN setting as a SEN TA.
- A relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistant (preferred but not mandatory).
- A genuine interest in supporting students with Special Educational Needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with students.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Proof of the right to work in the UK and two references for background checks.
