Job Title: Contract SEN Teaching Assistant (TA)

Daily Rate: £85 - £100 a day (depending on experience)
Welcoming & Supportive SEND School is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join their specialised SEND School in Bexley. This is a Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4pm position to start immediately!
The successful SEN TA will support pupils with physical disabilities, Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and complex needs. This position requires a commitment to providing high-quality care and education to pupils with diverse needs, including those who use wheelchairs and require personal care.
Class sizes are small, typically with up to 5 children per class, the SEND Teacher and other SEN TAs.
- Previous experience working with children with PMLD, SLD, ASD, and complex needs, preferably in either a school or a parent with a child with SEND.
- In date Enhanced DBS on the update service
- You live in easy commutable distance to the London Borough of Bexley
- You have experience in supporting wheelchair users and providing personal care (taking children to the toilet and changing nappies etc).
- Strong understanding of SEND best practices and safeguarding procedures.
- Ability to build positive and supportive relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
- Training in manual handling, first aid, and specialized communication methods is an advantage.
- Provide 1:1 support to students with PMLD, SLD, ASD, and complex needs.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
- Support students who use wheelchairs, including safe handling and mobility assistance.
- Assist with personal care tasks such as toileting, feeding, dressing, and hygiene.
- Facilitate classroom activities and support the teacher with lesson delivery.
- Help create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and other professionals.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff members to support the holistic development of students.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development sessions.
