SEN Teaching Assistant - PRU School (Hackney)

Passionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic PRU school in Hackney. You will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, helping them to re-engage with their education and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN and SEMH needs.

  • Assist in delivering engaging lessons, adapting materials to suit individual learning styles and abilities.

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students, acting as a mentor and role model.

  • Support students in managing their behaviour and emotions, using de-escalation strategies and positive reinforcement.

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

  • Monitor and record students' progress, contributing to individual education and behaviour plans.

  • Encourage students to develop their confidence, resilience, and social skills.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or in a PRU setting.

  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students with complex needs.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

  • Relevant qualifications in education, child development, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
