Tradewind are looking for an energetic Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 4 child who is currently working at a Year 1 level. The student has an Emotional Behavioural Disorder (EBD) and responds well to outdoor activities, so we are seeking someone who is sporty and enjoys being active. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with special educational needs and a passion for helping students thrive both academically and emotionally. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Year 4 student with Emotional Behavioural Disorder (EBD), ensuring their needs are met both in the classroom and during outdoor activities.
  • Assist the student with understanding instructions and completing tasks, adapting teaching methods to match their Year 1 level.
  • Modify materials and resources to suit the student's individual learning requirements and strengths.
  • Track and monitor the student's progress, recording observations for ongoing evaluation and development.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and external specialists, such as speech or occupational therapists, to maintain consistent, coordinated support.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging the student's independence, self-confidence, and emotional growth.
  • Ensure the student's safety and well-being at all times, especially during outdoor activities.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN), particularly in a 1:1 setting.
  • Understanding of Emotional Behavioural Disorder (EBD) and other SEN, such as autism, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the student's evolving needs.
  • Valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
