Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, a specialist school catering to children with complex needs, including PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced teaching staff to provide individualized support to our students, promoting their academic, social, and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to students with PMLD and ASD, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs
  • Assist in the classroom, helping teachers to deliver personalized lesson plans
  • Assist with personal care needs, including washing, dressing, and toileting
  • Implement behavioural strategies to promote positive behaviour and manage challenging behaviour
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and report to teachers as necessary
  • Participate in Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures, ensuring the well-being and safety of all students

Requirements:

  • 1+ year experience working with PMLD and ASD students
  • Ability to commit to Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm hours
  • Personal care experience is essential
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding procedures and a commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for students
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Willingness to participate in professional development opportunities
